The 4 Behavioural Styles
How you tend to respond, communicate and take action.
People with similar personalities can behave very differently.
One person may move quickly towards a decision. Another may first look for agreement. Someone else may prefer stability, while another naturally checks the details before acting.
Type Kingdom's Behavioural Style gives you another lens for understanding these differences.
It looks at four behavioural dimensions:
- Dominance
- Influence
- Steadiness
- Conscientiousness
Everyone can show all four.
Your result highlights the tendencies that appear most naturally or consistently in your responses.
D · Dominance
Direct. Decisive. Outcome-focused.
Dominance tends to appear in the way someone approaches challenges, decisions and forward movement.
People showing stronger Dominance tendencies may be comfortable taking initiative, making quick decisions, tackling difficult problems and pushing towards an outcome.
They may naturally ask:
“What needs to happen?”
Dominance can bring
- decisiveness
- courage
- independence
- momentum
- willingness to face challenges
- focus on results
When overused
The same drive can sometimes become impatience, unnecessary force, rushed decisions or frustration when other people need more time.
Growth does not require becoming less decisive.
It may mean learning when to slow down, invite another perspective or give people enough space to come with you.
I · Influence
Expressive. Engaging. People-oriented.
Influence tends to appear in the way someone creates energy, connection and enthusiasm around other people.
People showing stronger Influence tendencies may naturally communicate openly, involve others, share ideas and create momentum through relationships.
They may naturally ask:
“Who can I bring with me?”
Influence can bring
- enthusiasm
- warmth
- optimism
- communication
- encouragement
- social connection
When overused
Enthusiasm can sometimes outrun detail, listening or follow-through.
A strong desire for connection may also make disagreement or unpopular decisions harder.
Growth can mean keeping the warmth while becoming more comfortable with precision, difficult conversations and commitments that require sustained follow-through.
S · Steadiness
Patient. Supportive. Consistent.
Steadiness tends to appear in the way someone creates reliability, calm and continuity.
People showing stronger Steadiness tendencies may prefer a thoughtful pace, dependable relationships and environments where people know they can rely on one another.
They may naturally ask:
“How can we make this work well for everyone?”
Steadiness can bring
- patience
- dependability
- calm
- loyalty
- attentive listening
- consistent support
When overused
A preference for stability can sometimes make sudden change, conflict or rushed decisions particularly uncomfortable.
Someone may also keep accommodating others long after they should have expressed what they need.
Growth can mean keeping the steadiness while becoming more willing to speak up, set boundaries and move before every uncertainty has disappeared.
C · Conscientiousness
Careful. Analytical. Quality-focused.
Conscientiousness tends to appear in the way someone approaches accuracy, standards, information and quality.
People showing stronger Conscientiousness tendencies may naturally examine details, ask questions, check assumptions and want decisions to be supported by sound reasoning.
They may naturally ask:
“Have we thought this through properly?”
Conscientiousness can bring
- accuracy
- thoughtfulness
- careful analysis
- high standards
- quality control
- attention to detail
When overused
Care can turn into over-analysis, perfectionism, hesitation or difficulty acting when information remains incomplete.
Growth can mean keeping the high standards while recognising when the available information is good enough to move forward.
Strong does not mean better
A Behavioural Style is not a score of intelligence, competence, maturity or worth.
A stronger result simply means a particular tendency appears more clearly or consistently in your responses.
In Type Kingdom, preference strength may be described as:
Subtle
This preference is present, but lightly expressed.
Sustained
This preference appears with noticeable consistency.
Strong
This preference appears clearly and consistently.
These words describe the visibility of a tendency.
They do not grade the person.
Everyone uses all four styles
People are rarely one-dimensional.
You may become highly Dominant when a crisis needs solving, highly Steady when supporting someone you care about, highly Influential when bringing people together, and highly Conscientious when accuracy matters.
Context changes behaviour.
Experience changes behaviour.
Roles change behaviour.
The purpose of your Behavioural Style is not to tell you what you are allowed to do.
It gives you language for noticing which responses tend to come most naturally.
Why people with the same Personality Type can feel different
Imagine two people who both receive INTJ · Orion the Owl.
They may share important Personality Type preferences, yet behave quite differently.
One may show stronger Dominance, appearing fast-moving, direct and decisive.
Another may show stronger Conscientiousness, appearing measured, analytical and highly attentive to accuracy.
Both can still be Orion.
This is why Type Kingdom combines several layers rather than assuming that a four-letter Type tells the whole story.
Your Personality Type helps us understand one pattern.
Your Behavioural Style helps us understand another.
Your Natural Approach adds another distinction.
Together, they create a more individual picture.
Using your Behavioural Style in everyday life
Your result becomes useful when you apply it.
- How do I usually respond when something goes wrong?
- What happens when I have to decide quickly?
- How do I communicate when I feel confident?
- How does that change when I am stressed?
- What behaviour do other people probably experience most strongly from me?
- Which style comes least naturally?
- What could I borrow from that style when the situation requires it?
The goal is not to replace your natural tendencies.
It is to expand the range of responses available to you.
